Analyst, Capacity Building / Training & Development (Local Hire)

Main Duties and Responsiilities

The Analyst, Capacity Building is be responsible for the following:

Designing and Delivery of CB Event

On Going Events:

  • AFI delivers over 20 trainings annually to the staff of its member institutions. Lead the designing and delivery of these events, under the guidance of Head, CB. This includes:
  • Develop agenda in discussion with concerned AFI staff and central banks
  • Select speakers/consultants and coordinate with them
  • Work with partner institutions to coordinate for speakers, delivery of online course
  • Liaise with other AFI Units – procurement, events, monitoring and evaluation etc. to ensure smooth running of the event
  • Communicate with applicants as and when necessary

New Event

AFI consistently works to improve and innovate its capacity building initiatives. Support the Head, CB for new CB events. This would involve desk research on emerging training techniques and policy areas to support content development.  

 

Knowledge Management and Reporting:

  • A significant amount of information is generated in all CB events. Knowledge Management includes:
  • Organise all documents generated during the training – presentations, emails, contracts, speaker bios and store in a manner that is easy to share with the network and with other AFI departments
  • Analyse the data, e.g. feedback received, participant profile, to make informed choices for future event
  • Generate data and contribute to reports as required by AFI.

 

Support to the Development of CB Strategy

  • Support the Head, CB to develop strategic business plan (technical and financial) for capacity building. This would involve market research, working on financial documents, support the preparation of strategy documents and proposals.

 

Administrative      

Budget:

  • Work closely with Events team to ensure budget files for each event is maintained
  • Support Head, CB in tracking spend against the team’s budgets.
  • Communications:
  • Work closely with Communications team to promote the event – pre and post – via website, member zone etc. 
  • Lead the team’s internal and external communications, e.g. correspondence with members and partners, online member zone.

 

 Miscellaneous

  i. Support other teams and non-CB AFI events (e.g. Global Policy Forum)

 ii. Travel, when required, to events and meetings to provide logistical and administrative support

 iii. Represent AFI at relevant workshops and events and provide backstop support to the Head, CB

 

Working Relations

The Analyst, Capacity Building will be directly accountable and report to the Head, Capacity Building, and liaise and work closely with:

  • Policy Programs and Regional Initiatives, Monitoring and Evaluation, Global Partnerships, Communications, Events and Administration
  • AFI members’ institutions; and
  • External partners and stakeholders

 

Qualifications

Technical Skill
  • 3-5 years’ firsthand experience in designing training module using adult learning principles
  • 2-3 years’ firsthand experience in delivering training, preferably in international setting and for building partner’s technical and organizational capacity
  • Good analytical and research skills
  • Experience/interest in social impact and financial inclusion issues
  • Advanced skills in computer applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Prezi

Support Skills

  • Excellent good command of English – both oral and written
  • Self-starter, ability to multi-task and self-manage project management skills
Experience in facilitating learning processes and in leading trainingGood interpersonal and intercultural skills with a positive attitude and collaborative team spirit

 

Academic Qualification and Work Experience

University degree in Economics, Social Sciences, Public Policy 

Minimum three years of experience in international organization, training institution, academic institution
