Monitoring & Evaluation Analyst

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Team is responsible for generating information that can be used to increase AFI’s efficiency and effectiveness in delivering its products and services to members. M&E also aims to document key lessons and demonstrate success and impact of AFI’s interventions.

The M&E Analyst will report to the Team Leader; key tasks include:

  • Develop and implement processes and tools for systematic data collection and tracking of AFI’s progress towards achievement of objectives
  • Undertake analysis and prepare reports of AFI’s effectiveness and efficiency in achieving its objectives
  • Generate data to contribute to organization planning activities to ensure evidence-based decision making
  • Review and revise monitoring process and tools (quantitative and qualitative) to ensure a regular and consistent approach to tracking financial inclusion indicators across AFI
  • Analyze both quantitative and qualitative data and interpret results against AFI’s Corporate Strategy and Theory of Change
  • Maintain the M&E database to support data collection and reporting needs
  • Prepare reports on activities, outputs, and relevant outcome indicators for internal use.



Skills & Expertise

  • High proficiency in analysis and statistical software (MS Excel, SPSS, SATA added advantage)
  • Design and use of surveys, social research experience, report writing
  • Experience with logic models, logical frameworks, indicators development and tools for stating strategic objectives and articulating means and results
  • Experience with database management tools
  • Experience working in network-based organization would be an advantage.

Educational / Professional Background

  • Degree (BA/BSc) in International Development, Social Science, Economics or other relevant discipline
  • Minimum three years of experience in a similar position
